They break at 5x.
Manual steps hold at August volume. Black Friday is not August volume.
Still available after the freeze.
Theme code freezes around 1 November. Catalog and ops do not. Order routing, support deflection, inventory sync, and internal alerting live outside the theme, so they carry no freeze risk and never touch your storefront. This work ships in October, in November, and during the rush itself.
Where manual actually breaks.
01 Order exceptions
Address failures, held payments, oversells, and split shipments get worked by hand. At 5x volume the queue outruns whoever owns it.
02 Where is my order
Most BFCM support volume is order status. Almost none of it needs a person if the answer is read from the real Shopify order.
03 Stock that disagrees with itself
Retail, wholesale, and the storefront drift apart. An oversell on your biggest day costs the order and the customer.
04 Nobody notices for six hours
A failed webhook, a stalled fulfillment queue, a gateway timing out. An alert finds it in seconds.
What I build.
Scoped to your actual bottleneck, not a package.
01 Order and fulfillment routing
Exceptions identified, tagged, and routed the moment they appear, not whenever someone next opens the queue.
02 Support on your real data
Order status, shipping, returns, and product questions answered from Shopify itself, with a handoff to a human on anything it should not decide alone.
03 Inventory and channel sync
One source of truth across your systems, plus a written reconciliation rule for when they disagree.
04 Operational alerting
You hear about a broken queue or a failing integration from a notification, not from a customer.
Price.
$4,500
fixed. Two weeks. Half up front, half on handoff.
Scoped on a call before you pay anything. If your list is bigger than two weeks I will say so on that call and quote the rest separately.
Theme work still on the list?
That is the BFCM Readiness Sprint, and it does have a 30 September deadline. Catalog and ops can wait until after the freeze. The list on the theme cannot.
